FAQs
What is a skid steer grader blade attachment?
A grader blade attachment is a precision grading tool that fits onto your skid steer loader’s quick-hitch system. Powered by the loader’s hydraulics, these blades allow operators to shape, level, and finish surfaces with far greater accuracy than a standard bucket or dozer blade.
Skid steer grader blades are used across construction, civil works, landscaping, and agricultural industry projects. Typical applications include:
- Road and driveway construction and maintenance
- Car park and site preparation
- Levelling soil, sand, dirt, gravel, and road bases
- Final grading before asphalt, concrete, or turf installation
- Building pads and drainage works
Because they can be fitted to a standard skid steer, grader blades deliver professional-quality results without the need for larger, dedicated grading machinery.
Why use a grader blade instead of a dozer or box blade?
Use a grader blade for a skid steer when you need precision, speed, and flexibility rather than brute force. The blade’s ability to angle, side-shift, and maintain a fine cut makes it ideal for final grading, road bases, driveways, and turf preparation.
A dozer blade moves heavy material quickly but lacks the finesse for tight areas or finishing work. A box blade levels material well, but doesn’t offer the same depth or angle control.
For most final grading applications, a grader blade provides a cleaner finish with less soil disturbance and without tying up larger machines.
What blade widths are available for the Hydrapower skid steer grader attachment?
The Hydrapower grader blade comes in two standard widths: 2,100 mm and 2,400 mm. That means you can select the right size to suit your skid steer loader and project requirements, whether you need precision grading in tighter spaces or maximum coverage on open sites.
How far can the skid steer grader blade angle and side-shift?
The Hydrapower grader blade can angle up to ±45° for accurate side grading, every time. It also offers 600 mm of side-shift to help position the blade exactly where you need it for complex grading tasks or when working close to boundaries and obstacles.
What is the maximum cutting depth of the skid steer grader blade?
The Hydrapower grader blade can cut to a depth of up to 250 mm, allowing for precise grading, shaping, and profile finishing across a variety of surfaces and site conditions.
How is the grader blade controlled?
The GA series grader blade uses electric-over-hydraulic controls for fast, precise adjustments. Operators can raise, lower, slew, and side-shift the blade directly from the cab. For finishing work, there’s a manual crowd function for rolling the blade as needed.
Is this grader blade made in Australia?
Yes. All Hydrapower attachments are manufactured in Brisbane and tested to meet strict Australian Standards, so you can count on reliability from day one.
What maintenance is required?
Maintenance is straightforward. Keep pivot points greased, check hydraulic hoses and cylinders for leaks, and replace the cutting edge when it shows significant wear. For optimum durability, tyre pressure and condition should also be checked regularly.
The longevity of wear parts like cutting edges depends on the surfaces you’re grading and how often you use the attachment, but with routine checks—typically annual or semi-annual for most operators—you’ll keep your grader blade operating at peak performance.
At Hydrapower, we honour valid warranty claims and handle repairs promptly whenever required. Immediate and ongoing support is a priority for every client, ensuring your equipment stays productive with minimal downtime.
Are spare parts available for this product?
Yes. We carry a large selection of spare parts in Brisbane for fast dispatch. And if a part isn’t in stock, we can quickly source it for you.
